The line to Bolton Abbey at Embsay

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is a preserved Heritage, volunteer run railway currently running between Embsay, near Skipton, and Bolton Abbey, the world famous priory . It runs over part of the former Skipton-Ilkley line which was closed in 1965 and has been steadily been rebuilt by the volunteers. We had the station to ourselves today as there were no trains running. At the moment, only a Sunday service is operating, but the station was open, some of the volunteers were busily occupied working on the engines and the station looked pretty despite the lack of sunshine. The picture shows the line at Embsay station looking in the direction of Bolton Abbey, with the line’s lovely old signal box on the right.

Many thanks indeed to all those who took the time and trouble to view, comment, give stars and favs for my ‘Sun setting over Ingrow West’. You elevated it to Spotlight, which was so thrilling, and humbling, and is in fact still there. I was completely taken aback but felt very honoured indeed.
