Glasgow Girls

Back home from Glasgow Girls, another superb show from the Citizens Theatre.
The musical is inspired by the true story of a group of seven teenage girls who fought a high profile campaign against the forced and unjust deportation of the children of asylum seekers who lived in their midst.
The unlikely tale of the young womens' campaign is perfect for the Citz: at times a polemic, often humorous, sometimes dark but always reflecting the gallus personality of Glasgow's citizens - young and old.
Strong performances from all the young women. The teacher Mr Girvan was also excellent. For me, Myra McFadyen as Noreen nearly stole the show.
A Musical lives or dies by the quality of the music, songs and singing. Again, Glasgow Girls delivered.
Delighted to see that the supremely talented Hilary Brooks sorted out the Musical Direction and Arrangements. She used to be a music teacher in my old school in North Uist.
Glasgow Girls runs until the 8th of March - this is a must see.
