Look it up!

I am SO IMPRESSED with my first graders!!! I am reading Gooney Bird and the Roomparent to my class. Gooney Bird gets new dictionaries for her second grade class and they all look up outrageous words that Gooney Bird uses.... I "act" out the books as much as I can (my class loved the part when everyone got to chew gum in school!). Today we took out the dictionaries and the kids LOVED it! They learned about guide words, entry words, definitions, multiple definitions, plurals, and cooperation! They begged to skip math so they could keep looking up words! They promised me they'd do two math times tomorrow.
I am the luckiest teacher!
