Kenmare to Dublin

Last day with the car so headed out of Kenmare on the scenic route to Killarny through the national park. What a wonderful journey it was too, winding road's, melting tarmac in the heat and views to die for. We must have climbed 300 metres to Molls Gap from sea level, here there was a lovely shop selling everything imaginable but what was so good about this place was the amazing panoramic view of the national park.

Went on to take some photos around the lake (blipfoto) then had to get cracking on with the journey to Dublin, time was running out to get the car back for 5:00. Journey to Limerick took forever but once we picked up the motorway it was a breeze. Dropped car off and got a taxi to the Morrison Doubletree by Hilton hotel which is located in the heart of Dublin. As we were tired we chilled in the room for a bit, showered and booked a table at the very good Italian around the corner. Il Vicoletto was a very small establishment but with big Italian taste. I had calamary for starter and veal for main, Claire had the pork pasta special. The food was exceptionally good from start to finish and I can see why this restaurant is so highly rated on trip adviser.

After dinner we headed straight for the Bank on College Green which is a bar converted from an old bank. The decor was amazing with all the original bank fixtures and fittings.

Now it was time to head towards the area of Temple Bar and Temple Bar itself, this place lived upto it's lively reputation with wonderful live music. The male and female duo did a few good spins on some modern music with an Irish twist.

Soaking up the atmosphere in Temple Bar was great but the place was so busy and so hot we could only last for one drink but I'm sure I will return one day. As the night was still young we moved onto The Palace bar which again had some great live music especially to my taste, a four piece band covering the likes of led zeppelin and Paul Simon.

2:30am came around too quickly and our night only had the short stroll back to the hotel on offer. I could really get use to the Irish way of life.
