Brig o' Waithe

Unusual to see a biped crossing this bridge. This bears the main road between Stromness and Kirkwall. The flow underneath is tidal into the Loch of Stenness. On summer evenings this is a favourite spot for fishermen. It's also not unusual to see otters here (esp early a.m.). CMC also photographed a few young seals at rest here, last week.

This is a bonus blip as we were meant to catch the 6.30 a.m. ferry this morning from Stromness to Scrabster to head down to the Granite City. However because of a further boiler malfunction (non-returning valve, returning) we have delayed our foray.

Good dancing last night but Myrtle passed on her cold to me.

And, after a very grey and cold start, we have a stunning day. We even had a good Aurora glow last night.
