Field Trip

Starting at 8:30 and ending at 2:00

83 children...8 adults, lunch boxes, hats, water bottles, clip boards, pens, pencils and cameras....and three first aid kits for those unpredictable minor injuries!!

Heritage Village on the creekside, a remodeled site depicting the progress of Dubai from barasti (palm frond) houses, to coral and mangrove structures with appropriate crafts taking place at various stations around the course.

Ladies cooking traditional 'donuts' and crepes, boat builders carving minature dhows and abras, fishermen mending nets, ladies weaving elaborate sequined lace, pearl traders opening oysters to find their treasures, camel herders, shepherds and Arabian coffee makers........all engaged with their individual crafts while the children looked on, learning much and taking copious notes in readiness for the end of tour quiz!!!

Packed lunches were respectfully eaten in the majlis of the bedouin tent........in the company of two old timers who were just fascinated at so many children invading their space!!

The coffee was brewed.....all staff were duly refreshed.....Certificates of participation handed out, UAE flag scarves presented along with mugs and fridge magnets.....a line up arranged for a group photo and a fond farewell given to our local guides.

All heads were counted....all appeared present and correct with not even the slightest minor injury as we wended our weary way back towards school......success is definitely field trip shaped!!! (and it didn't rain!)

Happy Blipping Everyone
