Shutes

Early every morning on my way to work I can remember passing a dairy farmer dragging a manure wagon from the milking sheds out to the fields. Not that I like thinking about manure wagons while I'm in the dairy section of the grocers, but I do think of that farmer when I buy my gallon of milk.

I love county fairs - cold beer, corn dogs. I spend the whole time in livestock barns getting up close to the cows and the pigs and those devil-may-care goats. I'm amazed at the variety of chickens and rabbits.Geese have no tolerance for visitors or cages so I always give them a little more respect.

And if per chance I should pass that farmer at the Fair, I would surely by him a beer and a corn dog too.
