Sleeper

On the Dublin-Belfast train in 1995. Once a week I used travel up to Belfast, then on to the little town of Whitehead in Co Antrim, where I'd be picked up and brought the last few miles out to Islandmagee at the end of the peninsular. Here dwelt 'The Poet's House', a wee terrace house overlooking Muck Island (roughly the shape of a humped slumbering hog). This is where I took my MA in poetry/creative writing, a Lancaster University course taught by poets James and Janice Simmons and Martin Mooney. This is one of the very few photographs I took on the train.
