Rough Puff

So therapeutic. Making and eating. Almost what the doctor ordered.

Beef and potato pie tonight with carrots and spiced cauliflower mash.

The boys are asking to try spicier food, which is lovely. They started off being weaned on dahls, but then 'minty' (Charlie's word for spicy heat) became a no go. I didn't push it, and the joy of them having tea at chums' homes means that they try new things. It's very easy to fall into a rut of preparing food that you know they will definitely eat, especially when both time and money are short. So the comforting familiarity of pie, with a lightly spiced mash: just a hint of chilli in the cauliflower and a sprinkling of smoked paprika on top.
