Why do they do that ?

Mr. Beewatcher came home yesterday with these beautiful roses. They are a pleasure to see, and the yellow and pink looks so pretty and unusual.
BUT - there's no scent ! Isn't it possible to produce modern roses that have colour and perfume ? It's the best part of a rose !
