Theft, Vandalism And Public Order Offences

The Vicars Pele at St Andrew's Church in Corbridge, Northumberland.

The tower was built about AD1300 for a vicar of Corbridge. It was lived in as a fortified vicarage until the early 17th century. I was told by a local elderly gentleman (who just about managed to stop his false teeth from falling out) who was taking his daily walk through the churchyard that it was built, like many local buildings using stone from Hadrian's Wall.

So theft, vandalism and the need for fortification at home is not a new problem.

A lovely day in my bit of Northumberland today.
