It was nice to have some sunshine this morning, and it made for a pleasant little urban walk around Cottingley, Moorhead and Nab Wood before an appointment at the Yorkshire Clinic.

The walk took me to some spots that I hadn't been to since we were house hunting back in 2005, when I spent summer evenings wandering the streets of Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley and Baildon looking for nice places to live in what was then, to me, an unknown part of the world.

Today it was this unusual agglomeration of farm buildings which caught my eye, particularly with the morning sun falling on the sandstone.

Nestling between the main settlements that make up Bradford District, there are lots of little pockets of rurality like this. While the valleys have largely been filled up with houses, you don't have to head far up hill to get a taste of what the area was like before the nineteenth and twentieth century growth of the city.
