Hassocks

As we went into the church we were greeted by this wonderful display of kneelers. As I photographed them I was approached by an elderly gentleman who appeared from nowhere. I waited to be told I should not be taking photographs in the church instead of which he told me the sad story behind them. The Vicar's wife suffered from Asthma and had designed all the pictures. Sadly she died suddenly (I think he said in her mid- forties but the ladies of the congregation decided that they would finish off the work. He proudly told me that he had worked on one himself. Such and interesting Church I could have stayed for hours but he was wanting to close as it was quite late in the afternoon.
