Lock 27

This is lock 27 on the Forth and Clyde canal. On the right you can just about see the Lock 27 pub which is quite a good place for a drink or a meal in the summer, there's tables and benches on the tow path. The bridge in the foreground carries traffic on the very busy A 739. This scene looks quiet and rural but I was in a very urban setting in Glasgow with noise from the traffic rumbling all around. A long stretch of the towpath has just had an upgrade with a new layer of tar which is great for walkers and cyclists. It's part of the national cycle route.
