...on thin ice

flying around with the ducks - and geese - on - what turned into a rather nice day after all - one where the temps have now dipped enough days in a row - that the ice has begun to melt on the lake - creating a slushy mess - for the landing geese - where once they land - they then tend to get stuck - having to heave themselves back and forth - to break through - getting themselves levered onto more solid masses of ice flow - it's got to be terrifying for them - it is for me watching - i feel like i'm their biggest cheerleader - standing on the shoreline - yelling at them - "back up - move over that way - no, no - go there..." they must certainly wonder who i am - and there came this lone gull - landing in a swooping slide on the ice - tentatively walking along - before taking off again - it was entertaining as well as making for...
