"A Sunny October Day" ...

.. 1980 is the year, the year our little girl April-Louise turned 6 years old, and this is a photo I took of her on my Mum's property in Western Victoria..My Dad had died earlier and Mum sold our family farm and went into other farming ventures, including investing in race horses..

...We had to go down there to check on fences and windmills and the cattle at the time..Such a pretty little property, but right near the State Forest you can see in the background, which was always a threat for bushfires, as it was almost surrounded by Forest..and small dirt roads out of there..

...We loved it there, and I took several photos of the children over the years and next to this little dam which the cattle drank from..

...In October each year, we'd find many huge mushrooms - also toadstools, which grew near the dam, and nearby was a huge old radiata pine tree which the cattle used to shelter under from the hot summer's sun..the old pine tree doesn't stand there now, it would have been near a 100 years old then- but apparently lightning took its toll at some time...

...In October of that year, my Mum also sold that property, we had previously been living there years before and moved away, the threat of bushfires was the main reason, and the lack of schooling closeby and tiger snakes in that country, which were bad at that time..

...And so this is a large photo of our little girl, who is almost 40 years old now..and she did love those blue and red overalls that her Mummy made for her...

...The color in this has faded some over the past years, but the memories remain - oh yes, and I think I still have the negative somewhere...
