Kao Yai

After a few days in Bangkok Lina and I jumped on a bus to the Isaan, the eastern region of Thailand. I've come here to visit one of the best national parks in the country for seeing wildlife, Yao Yai. Leaving the urban jungle, for the real jungle.

We took a local bus that arrived in the town of Pak Chong in the evening from where we got a ride to our guesthouse. I came here five years ago and had a great experience. This time the place is the same but the area around the park more developed. People, roads, and development hemming in nature again and again.

Still, the park is full of forests, birds and animals. As part of a day long tour in the back of a truck we explored Kao Yai. We saw gibbons, macaques, owls, hornbills, giant squirrels, bee eaters, deer, jungle fowl and snakes. Including this beautifully camouflaged Green pit viper (Trimeresurus albolabris).
