Pemex

The only place to buy gasoline/petrol in Mexico is at the state run Pemex stations. When we first started coming here 20 odd years ago, they were few and far between and often had inadequate supplies. A driving trip required much planning and forethought, even our old Mexico map had the stations listed as part of the legend. Things have changed significantly since then and now there seems to be a Pemex on every corner. One thing that hasn't changed is that there is no self service, they are all run by attendants who pump gas and perform such tasks as checking the oil, pumping up tires and cleaning the windows. I didn't need either of the first two services, but with the dust and dirt of our seaside town, the windshield can always use a good cleaning.
