Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance

Text from Dana:
It's rainbow weather. Ger ur camera ready
Me:
Can u see one? Don't see any from here.
Dana:
Don't see one yet but prior planning prevents poor performance. Where did she get that? She's been saying it since somebody said it in one of her high school classes.
Me:
Standing in the rain by the arbor.--don't know about prior planning, but I'm getting wet!

No rainbow. Just a very wet head!

We decided to devote the morning to finding a task lamp that doesn't look too bad in our TV room. Since the one we ordered on line is backordered until May, the best prior planning seemed to be to cancel that and go to an actual lighting store where they have actual lamps.. We went to a store I had been to before, filled from floor to ceiling with lighting of all shapes, sizes and colors. A man in shorts on a ladder changing light bulbs seemed like a potential blip, but the lighting in a lighting store is not conducive to photography--especially with an iPhone, since I forgot my camera..

Despite the plethora of lamps, in the store, nothing was quite right and we wound up ordering one anyway. LED lights or halogen? Floor lamp or desk lamp? polished nickel or antique brass? Our "lighting design consultant" led us through the choices and assured us that there were 11 of the lamp we finally chose in stock someplace in Minnesota, and one could be here within two weeks. (He did explain the difference between backordered and ready to be shipped--not reassuring when it comes to our wayward backordered bathroom "stacked pebbles"....)

I'm not sure that speaking directly with a live person represents prior planning but it is the best we can do and just might prevent poor performance. I think the definitions of "planning" and "performance" may have changed in the age of the global economy and the internet.

Leaving the store with the promise of a lamp, we decided to go to the Spinster Sisters for lunch. It's been awhile since we were there last, and the chef has changed his hair color from pink to fuchsia, although it is hard to tell from my picture. I liked the painterly quality my iPhone on a zoom lens in low light gave the shot. Lunch was delicious--no prior planning required.
