Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Stranded beast

What a fortuitous find to celebrate Saint David's Day; the bleached back bone of an ancient dragon lying among the sand dunes!

The Welsh Red Dragon, Y Ddraig Goch, appears on the national flag of Wales. The oldest recorded use of the dragon to symbolise Wales is in the Historia Brittonum, written around AD 829.
