Mad dogs and English ...

Today has been fun. We have driven over two mountain ranges, the spectacularly jagged Montserrat just to the north-west of Barcelona, and then the Pyrenees, over a pass near Andorra. The road was (mostly) clear, but at times the roadside snow banks were higher than the car! The picture was taken near the peak of the Pyrenees.

It was amusing to see the faces of Spanish and French motorists, who clearly regarded it as faintly mad to see someone driving a convertible with the top down at -1 deg past ski slopes and winter-clad skiers. Little did they know we were snug as bugs in our heated seats with 'air scarves', with our backs cosseted and our necks enveloped in warm air vented out through the tops of the seats. Anyway, we Brits are tough as well as mildly eccentric.

Made it to Montauban, north of Toulouse, in time for dinner and a night in a 17th century Abbey that is now a hotel. Back to Blighty tomorrow.
