Our Journey is a process

Explosion!

My new home office is finally finished and I can now move it. If finished the last of the painting today since the painter left unexpectedly yesterday. Other deconstruction/construction continues, but my new office is done!

So, let me give you a tour of our newly remodeled townhouse. When you walk in, you enter into a large entryway. You can either go up or down.

Let's go down first. When you go down a small flight of stairs you enter into the "great" room, or the main living room. We repainted and added new carpeting here. Directly off from the living room is a very large sliding glass door that leads to a sun room (glass on three sides with a roof). Here we have taken out old built-in seating, re-floored with slate, added additional electrical sockets, a ceiling fan and new pleated shades. Outside of the sunroom is a large deck facing south-southwest that was resurfaced. On the west side of the living room is the dining room, which we did not change. From the dining room, to the north is the galley kitchen. We had changed out cabinet doors, countertops, flooring and appliances before. So, we just added new lighting and a new refrigerator. Right off the kitchen is the laundry room, which just got some new lighting. Also off the kitchen is a small bathroom. We completely renovated the bathroom with all new fixtures, cabinets, countertops, lighting and flooring.

Back at the entry landing, let's go up to a hallway. Here we refinished the hardwood floor, added new hardwood moulding, new wood doors and paint. If you continue straight down the hall, you enter the master bedroom. We painted and added new carpeting to the bedroom. The master bathroom, however, got a complete facelift with new fixtures, lighting, tile and flooring. Back out in the hall, there are two bedrooms. The west bedroom got new paint, carpet, shades and a renovated closet. Right across the hall from the west bedroom is another bathroom that got a complete renovation similar to the other bathrooms. The east bedroom was changed dramatically. Here we added stairs to the new loft that was added above the two story entryway. The room also got a closet renovation, new paint, carpet and shades. Going up the new stairs, we had a large bookcase built into the wall and recessed lighting in the ceiling. At the top of the stairs, in the new loft, we added a large closet with sliding doors made of maple. The north side of the loft has a floor to ceiling windows which add consistent light. Then, from the loft, we added a few stairs which enter into the large storage area in the attic. We used to have to access this area from attic stairs that came down from ceiling in the hallway below.

While the majority of the renovation is completed, it is nice to have at least one area that is done. After we had finished the renovations in our Colorado house, I am really looking forward to having these completed as well.

This evening, the sunset wasn't looking too great to the west. But, when I walked out on to the master bedroom deck and looked south, this is the view that I saw.

I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend!
