Wild Burros

These fellows are in the same area every day as we drive by. The reason is simple once it's realized there is a golf course here with an irrigated fairway of yummy grass to munch on. There are no areas like this for many miles around. I petted one on the nose with no reaction, they're really quite tame. It's illegal to feed them as they can be real pests and cause more traffic problems. These two were in the middle of a curvy road so we watch for them when we're in their neighbour hood. From the Oatman City site, " In the United States the donkey has been used as a beast of burden and for the breeding of mules, which are hybrids produced by mating mares and jackasses. Small donkeys, or burros, played a major role as pack animals in opening up the western United States."
