Floating

DDW's March Challenge Day 4: Supernatant = Floating on the surface

supernatant (ˌsuːpəˈneɪt ə nt)
— adj
1. floating on the surface or over something
2. chem (of a liquid) lying above a sediment or settled precipitate

A hunt through my kitchen cupboards led to nothing - not a single jar of anything where the liquid had settled out on top. I found this astonishing, there's always something, but maybe my cupboard clearout prior to my recent trip abroad has led to this.

So out to the garden, and the trusty birdbath where, sure enough, some plant matter that fell over autumn and winter had settled out, leaving a single sprig of fir tree on the surface. Sorted!
