Riverside Museum, Glasgow

We had a long day in Glasgow today. The purpose was to see The Glasgow Girls at the Citizen's Theatre. This is a musical about a group of girls and their teacher, plus other members of the community in Drumchapel, trying to stop asylum seekers being deported in early morning raids on their housing. Sounds a bit dry, but it was absolutely brilliant and very life affirming. I'm not sure it would have happened in Edinburgh, but you would like to think it might. There was a post show discussion with some of the cast, the writers and director and some of the Glasgow Girls. It made you proud to be Scottish, as many of the asylum seekers now have the right to stay and are making a huge contribution to Glasgow and are still fighting for the rights of others.

The early part of the day we were in the west end capturing more Turf Zones. Details can be found here for the curious. We then visited the Riverside museum, where the blip was taken in the great reflecting windows of the stunning building that houses the transport museum. In the background can be seen PS Waverley, the paddle steamer that plies the Clyde in the summer.
