Welsh Castle

This is Roch Castle - near St. Davids in Pembrokeshire.
Built around 1200 it has been a home to conquerors and courtesans. It was a Royalist stronghold in the Civil War but sustained major damage and in 1700 it was abandoned and left to become a real ruin before being rebuilt in 1900.

From 1900 until 1977 it was used as a family home, and then as a holiday let until, in 2007, it underwent a two year £6m restoration and refurbishment. It is now a very upmarket hotel.
