Arctic Day 4: 70° 39' 48'' N >> 69° 38' 57'' N

To Hammerfest – the most northern town in the world. A fairly industrial place, though like every town, village and settlement we have visited, improved by the brightly coloured houses.

I was excited to get an extra birthday present here: I’m now a member of the exclusive Polar Bear Club! I’ve even got a certificate signed by the Hammerfest Mayor to prove it.

From here we started the journey back to the south. The weather picked up beautifully, and we finally got clear skies, full of blue and pink in the afternoon. The mountains and ranges as we passed were simply breathtaking – especially around the small settlement of Øksfjord and crossing Lopphavet.

A very late arrival into Tromsø, and a very welcome non-pitching & rolling bed!
