My Best Efforts - Year 3

By AMC

To the Rescue.......

.............this morning are more of Anni's flowers - they are lasting very well and still look very fresh - am keeping them in the coolest part of the dining room. I like these particularly because of the white markings - very cheerful on this damp, drizzly and cloudy morning.

And did you know that:

1) In some parts of Asia the flowers are boiled up to make a sweet tea like beverage. This is a medicinal drink and allegedly aids the recovery of influenza. There are also similar recipes which involve boiling the roots.

2) In some species of Chrysanthemum the leaves of the plant are grown as a leaf vegetable known as "tung ho". Fried with garlic and chili, the dark green leaves are said to be well textured and the aromatic.

3) In Feng Shui, chrysanthemums are believed to bring laughter and happiness to the home.

4) In America, the chrysanthemum is now the largest commercially grown plant in the country.

5) The chrysanthemum is related closely to chamomile, marguerite and matricaria.

.... here endeth my not unusual bits of useless information!!

Chiropodist is at coming at 11.30 - not really looking forward to it as I have rather painful feet at the moment but................

Anni is on one of her missions today - she texted me at about 6.15AM to say she had arrived at Heathrow and was awaiting the boarding call - and will probably grab a cup of tea and a sandwich in the meantime. She will be back home early this evening - long day!

As already mentioned, it's a grey, damp and drizzly day but not cold - 45 Deg.F.

Enjoy your day!
