stale

It looks as if the empty brewery-shell between Fountainbridge and the canal is being re-occupied, but only by opportunistic people who probably aren't allowed to be there rather than anything useful. As well as the removal of a few of the panels which were previously only slightly cracked and burnt there were a few bits of old furniture sitting about underneath the holes, either as furnishings or as a means of climbing up to the holes. It doesn't look particularly comfortable inside but it's probably better than sitting about completely exposed at this time of year. The other day I saw someone climbing out of the other end of the site into the rejuvenated area, presumably as it's slightly easier to get out that end rather than because it drew more attention to the presence of people and allowed them to be spotted by the CCTV covering the new buildings.

Nothing of much interest occurred during the day, though The Men Who Stare at Goats in the evening was very good. As with In The Loop there seemed to be some deliberation in the laughter, presumably in order to allow the people laughing to indicate to those nearby how much they were getting the joke, a theory supported by comments audible from the two fuckwits directly behind (who started being irritating even before they'd sat down) though (unlike with In The Loop there were only one or two occasions when the drawn-out exacerbated laughter prevented successive lines of dialogue from being heard. Worth catching, if there is still time. On their way out soon are The First Day of the Rest of Your Life and Unmade Beds, both caught in June when they played at the film festival and both very much worth popping to see now that they're about. The former is the better-storied but the latter better-shot and generally more cinema-able, whereas the other one would work better on DVD whereas Unmade Beds would lose more.
