Foraging among the floods

We have nothing like the problem with flooding that we've seen in England, but this field beside the River Echaig has been so waterlogged for several weeks that the small lake is beginning to look permanent - despite the constant flow from two drainage pipes that lead into the river. As we looked, one sheep seemed to get fed up with the short grass on the far side of the flood and paddled over - it was quite deep in the middle - to reach the long grass and weeds round the fence. It shook itself like a dog, looked at us as if to say "don't dare laugh" and set to.

We remarked that our lives must be in a sad state if we're reduced to watching a sheep. We need to get out more, and in a different way ...
