Puffed up Pigeon

It was a cold day today, and also windy. I headed down to the Water of Leith path hoping the south facing slopes would not only keep me out of the wind, but that the milky looking sun would offer up some warmth.

The pigeons have been quite active, but today it is quiet, and nothing flies away as I walk along the path. I look up and notice this cold looking pigeon. The cold and the wind mean that rather than to expend energy keeping warm and forage for food, it is better to sit still, puff up the feathers and wait for quieter weather.
