Road Trip day 9

This is our second day in Kanab, UT.
Early in the morning we got up and got in the car to visit Zion National Park. Another day of exclamation points. Colors from creme to orange/red and lots of pine trees. Even the temperature was nice and in the low 70's (22-23C).
We parked our car at the Visitors Center and it was already crowded. The boys got their Junior Ranger packets and we got back in the car to tour the park.
WRONG move!
If we had prepared our trip, we would have known that cars were not allowed in the park. By the time we figured this out, all the parking space near the visitors center was full and we had to drive a long way to be able to find parking. We took the shuttle back to the park, but it cost us precious time.
We walked the riverside walk trail to the Narrows. This is a nice and flat trail along the Virgin river. The boys really wanted to do the Narrows trail, which is basically a hike trough the water, climbing over the rocks and boulders, wading, swimming. Not so great after meniscus surgery and not so great for our cameras. Thus this was a no go.

We took a lot of pictures. Zion is really beautiful and very green and colorful in the summer. This is not my best picture of today, but it'll give you an impression of the colors.
