Bumble bee

Lots of bees out and about today. It's been the nicest day of the year so far (although, I've been stuck in work for most of it. Sigh)
This (queen?) bumble bee was on the crocuses outside the med school. A lady came over whilst I was trying to take a photo and told me they'd been planted by the rotary club as a celebration of their successful polio vaccine programme. They're mostly purple, representing healthy, vaccinated people with occasional white crocuses to represent people who are yet to be protected. Anyway, they looked lovely in the sunshine today!
