The warmest day of the year so far brought more signs of spring. Following last Monday's first butterfly sighting, this morning we had our first garden visitation, again in the shape of a Small Tortoiseshell. Later, as 6yo and I walked down the edge of the moor into the village, the first Peacocks (three) showed themselves, and we found three more in the community garden (here's one). Then a Comma joined in our game of hide and seek, making our third species of the year.

There was plenty of bee life too, and on another day this image of a honey bee departing a crocus may have been my blip.

Pride of place goes to this Ruby Tiger caterpillar that emerged from the recesses of our garden wall to bask in the sunshine.

Last year we had to wait until April 20th for a day like this.
