Metal Detectors

There was definitely a spring feel to today despite greyish skies. There were very young lambs at Chartershall Farm, there are flowering daffodils in places and we even made a start on some garden tidying this morning.
I came across some folk in a field near Chartershall and discovered that they were keen metal detectors who pursue their hobby in various locations at weekends. They had found some old coins today and some other interesting pieces including musket balls.
Although they were detecting near the Battle of Bannockburn site ( the exact location is of course the subject of considerable debate) the musket balls would not be from that time - I don't think they had muskets in 1314 - and so must have come from some other local altercation.
