Cougar

Prowling the grounds of the Coronado K-8 Elementary School is this cougar designed by students.

Kids attending the 1975 Pima County Recreation Dept. Summer Program designed the Cougar and made it from paper mache.

During the 1977 school year they reached agreement with the sculptor on how the permanent version should look, monitored progress as the project developed, then 4th and 6th grade students selected the rocks for the pedestal.

The cougar is the school mascot.
