View from Lainio tunturi across Lumikuru gorge

Stunning weather today coincided remarkably with plans for a long snowshoe expedition across to Lainio tunturi, the largest of the seven ¥lläs fells apart from ¥llas tunturi itself.

This is the view from just north of the summit looking west towards Sweden. The lower fell on the left is Kukus tunturi and the tree covered flank on the centre right is the flank of Pyhatunturi. In between the two, just obscured by the corniced side of the Lumikuru gorge, is the Kotomaja café.

Our route back is along the left hand cornice, down to the river and back up over the right flank of Kukas tunturi to come down to cross the Äkäs river and back to the road.
