Edinburgh Eagles last home league game of the season, against Nottingham Mavericks. The university teams from their respective cities.

A win for Eagles would give them the championship (UK division 1 - north). A win for Mavericks would give it to them. A draw would mean Sheffield getting it!

As befits the backdrop, the game was a cracker. A 2-1 win for Eagles. They took the lead after about 30 minutes, so had to hold on to it for 30 minutes.

Tense.

Now they'll have a playoff in Sheffield next month against the winners of the south division - Oxford University.

Very pleased for my son. He was never on a successful team in his 8 seasons as a junior, but had lots of fun and didn't let results get in the way. Nice to see him winning something with this team. They won their division last year too.

The team is a mixture of Canadians, Americans, Swedes, Czechs etc - and Scots. Strangely enough, in tonight's lineup 5 of the Scots were from Kirkcaldy.
