MONOMONDAY: Architecture, Baddesley Clinton

This is one of my favourite National Trust properties and fortunately it's quite near to where I live. This means I can visit two or three times a year to see it in the different seasons. The moated manor house was built on the 15th century, but probably had its heyday in Elizabethan times and this is the architectural style it most commonly depicts. It belonged to the Ferrers family who lived there for over 500 years. Three priest holes have been discovered in the house and it was thought that at one time nine catholic priests were sheltered there against persecution. This shot shows the side of the house and you can clearly see the moat, fine chimneys and the internal courtyard. If you look closely you can see that an arch on the wall has been bricked up. This is my entry for Mono Monday hosted by Hobbs.
