Bournemouth West Cliff lift

The original Bournemouth west cliff lift was opened on 01/08/1908, 4 months after the east cliff lift which is the other side of Bournemouth pier. It received new aluminium passenger cars in the 1960s and they were today waiting to take their first passengers of the spring. The track is 145 feet or 44 metres long and links the main traditional seaside promenade and beach with the cliff top and wider town beyond.
It's more expensive to travel up (family £4.30) than down, a snip at £3.10 for a family.
