Brian's Bits

By Kanyl

Haste ye back.

It's been a wee bit fraught of late. If you haven't heard of the latest Noah event where have you been?
On thursday I was one of the mighty few to drive through the floods at Portinscale before they closed the road. There were blokes working in the road, knee deep in water.
It must have been above the door sills, but it only got in through holes in the floor as the sills were dry.
Drove it on Friday, opened it to put something in on Sat or Sun and was serenaded by horrible basso profundo sounds from the rear speakers for a while.
"Oooobuggerit!! Shut door quick." noise subsided, thought no more.

Mon a.m. No worky. Charger ... No worky. R.A.C. ... worky.
While trying to start it we noticed a slight tendril of smoke from 'neath the driver's seat.
He declared it an insurance job. OoooBUGRIT squared.

6-8 calls ensued, the result of which was "they" finally worked who should see to it and provide a courtesy car.
They, by the way, comprised 2 different bods at Volvo owners insurance, 3 different lasses at 2 different Volvo locations and a bloke at one of them.

Upshot .... Fare ye well old friend and haste ye back.

Token to the number of claims there must have been ... When am I getting a courtesy car? (One of the provisos in the policy)

Don't hold your breath.

Thurday. AND I have to pick the damn thing up from 20 miles away. Good job there's no bridges en route.
