A slow train's a'coming

This morning was my turn to help with the Bike Train pilot for the school as part of Road Safety week. We had 4 hardy wee souls. It was seriously chucking it down and the wind was gusting all over the place.
The walking bus had about 10children.

We are aiming to get a more collective use of the canal as a route to school, hoping that by travelling in larger groups it will force the other cyclists to slow down. There seem to be a select few who think that a pedestrian filled canal towpath is a suitable place to see how fast they can ride a bike.

Had an easier day at work after yesterday. I did manage to pop along to Waterstons in a rare dry spell. Treated myself to Don Paterson's 'Rain'. Very apt title for today. It was a regular in the lists of favorite books of the year that was in the Observer at the weekend.

Came home sharp and was supposed to take the girls to highland dancing but they had just recovered from getting thoroughly soaked on the way home from school. So we are dogging dancing. I have a funny feeling that means something different now than it did when I was at school.

The heating is on and am going no-where tonight.
