But, then again . . . . .

Model Woman.

We went into town to see the paintings by Phoebe Anna Traquair at the Catholic Apostolic Church on Broughton Street. She was an incredible woman being an expert in many of the arts and crafts who, it seems, was not so much commissioned to do the work as insisted that her offer was accepted. It is well worth a visit, but you do need a tour guide to appreciate the display in depth. Strictly speaking, these are not murals as they were painted on dry, prepared plaster; c.f. the mis-use of the word tapestry.

The paintings are unevenly and dimly lit which makes them virtually impossible to photograph and, while they don't mind pictures being taken, they would probably object to the use of tripods. Hence my blip is of a shop display a hundred yards up the road, Mrs TD offered strong objections to my photographing it - presumably on the grounds of taste, but it is the best I have to offer today.
I'm afraid I don't even know what the shop was selling, probably handcuffs and whips.
