Wet Gold

Dashed of to Timaru to have lunch with my English friends who have now left on their long journey home. They come out most years. 8 Years ago I was the celebrant at their daughters wedding and we have formed a close friendship.
Then it was off down to Rainies to finish off some more odds and ends from our last years photographic Convention. We also looked at the photographs that we jointly did of a wedding 3 weeks back. The bride is pretty lucky the amount and variety of images she will get.
Late heading home and spotted this irrigator working. Certainly gold for South Canterbury which now supports huge dairy farms. It feels like NZ is now one huge dairy farm. Not so of course but the amount of Dairy Conversions has been phenomenal. Big milk treatment factories have been built which is of course good for employment figures. Hard to get enough men and women to work on the milking side, they work horrible hours so many of these people are being brought in from the Philippines etc. The amount of water that goes on the paddocks is incredible and new water storage dams have been built over the past 10 years. All this is certainly helping our economy.
