Dorset Coastal Path at Peveril Point, Swanage (2)

This photo was taken a little to the west of the viewpoint for my photo taken early in February. The weather has improved, but today - as for the past two days - there is a persistent haze which restricts visibility to at best a few miles. (This is why there is no clear horizon and no Isle of Wight.)

The Union Flag is flying above a Coastwatch lookout. The shelving rocks and two tidal races at Peveril Point have caused many shipwrecks and taken many lives. A fleet of 120 Danish - aka Viking - ships came to grief here in 877AD.

In the centre of the photo you can see the substantial overhang of the cliff, with large fallen rocks beneath it.
