One stop shop...!

Today we left Vang Vieng and headed to Vientiane. The four hour journey provided many sights including this one - I've never seen such a variety of items on one bike, truly a one stop scooter shop!

We arrived to view and climb the victory arch then after check in and lunch we went to Wat Si Saket temple and Ho Pra Keo the hall for the emerald Buddha.

Majority of us then went on to visit COPE a local not-for-profit organisation that works in partnership with the Centre of Medical Rehabilitation (CMR) and provincial rehabilitation centres to provide access to both orthotic/prosthetic devices and rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and paediatric services to people with disabilities.

It works to spread awareness of and help the victims of cluster bombs.

Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the world per capita in history - more than 580,000 bombing missions - one every 8 minutes, 24 hours a day for 9 years of the Vietnam War. 270,000 cluster bombs dropped of which 80 million were unexploded at the end of the war.. Approximately 100 new casualties each year - the US have kept that quiet...

Back via tuk tuk to hotel then our last group dinner with guide Nok, will see her briefly tomorrow then say our goodbyes as we meet a new guide when we arrive in Hanoi
