The Congregational Gallery and Cafe

After playing on the swings and feeding the ducks - a rather stressful session due to the unwelcome presence of an aggressive swan - Ella and I had a scone (Stilton and Broccoli - very healthy I'm sure!) in friend L's gallery. It is in the old Congregational church, long disused. When L first owned it she had it functioning as a small workshop employing local women to make play clothes for dressing up. Now she's given the space a make-over and it is a gallery selling work by northern artists, potters and sculptors. She and her son make delicious cakes, scones and soups to sell in the cafe part, with very good high quality teas and coffees to have while reading the papers.
