Old Road To Histon

As a youngster, I would cycle along here with friends in the school holidays. We would be on our way to sort the plums at the old Chivers jam factory in Histon and earn a bit of pocket money. Since the A14 and a flyover was built, the old Histon Road was divided and now this part of the road is a dead end. In the past, my delightful cycle ride from my home was across the footbridge over the river Cam, along King's Hedges road, along by the old Roman road, and then to Histon. Countryside all the way. Sometimes now when I visit friends there, I can't help comparing the busy roads, full of buses, so many traffic lights, and buildings going up with those carefree days.
