Surf's up!

A visit today to Cape St Vincent, the southwest tip of Europe.
The sea has been quietening down all week, and today was fairly calm and blue.
This beach is one of the surf board training beaches, and we were watching them paddling out a long way in what often looked like a flat sea, but then it would swell up beneath them and roll in, gradually breaking and giving a great ride. Makes you quite envious.
We walked along a board walk to one of the headlands overlooking the beach and saw that part of the walkway had been washed some 50 metres away towards the cliff edge, when hit by a monstrous 80 foot wave some weeks ago in those winter storms. It obviously washed right over the cliff top, must have been quite awe inspiring and I bet those surfers were just waiting to get out in it!
