Orchid

Mexico is home to hundreds of varieties of wild orchids, and in the state of Chiapas alone more than 700 exist. Orquídeas Moxviquil is a botanical garden in the city of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, that is dedicated to the rescue of species that are in particular danger of extinction as well as education about environment and forest management.
More than 250 varieties thrive in the beautiful orchid house that is surrounded by paths and small ponds all designed for ecological health. Another very creatively designed "greenhouse" is being built that will house plants from the lakes region of southern Chiapas.

These intriguing houses and a few more orchids can be seen here
Detailed information about the gardens (and more orchids!) are here

The manager of the facility gave us a most interesting tour that was one of the highlights of our visit to Chiapas! I hope to return in the future to see the new house complete with plants.
